Who We Are
Zamrudah is a nonprofit agro-therapy program designed to support Israeli veterans living with PTSD by offering a 3-month healing residency in Southern Illinois. Rooted in the belief that nature, meaningful work, and community can restore balance, we provide veterans with a safe, structured, and supportive environment where healing can take place naturally and at its own pace.
Our program blends sustainable agriculture, hands-on craftsmanship, therapeutic guidance, and community living—all free of charge for every participant.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create a place where veterans can slow down, reconnect with themselves, and rediscover purpose through daily engagement with the land and the seasons.
By combining therapy with meaningful work, we help participants move from surviving to thriving.
Our Vision
We envision a global network of healing farms offering personalized internships in sustainability, where veterans receive hands-on training, rebuild confidence, and reignite curiosity in a supportive environment.
We believe healing is strengthened through connection—to oneself, to nature, and to each other.
Zamrudah was born from personal experience, when Yogev Levy served in the IDF’s Search and Rescue Canine Unit and was injured during a humanitarian mission in Africa. PTSD symptoms began shortly afterward. During two years of volunteering on sustainable farms, he struggled—but found solace and healing in farming and working with his hands.
Touching the earth gave him grounding. The seasons gave him rhythm. Daily work gave him purpose.
Zamrudah carries this wisdom forward—offering veterans the same opportunity to reconnect with the land and themselves.
